Microwave Raku workshop @ Oaks Park artist studios Sunday 4th August 2025. Location: At Oaks park artist studios, behind the cafe. Please park in the main car park, not at the artist studios. Time: 10-4pm (please be on time to make the most of the day). You may finish earlier. Work will be fired based on space available in kiln chamber. Cost: £60pp More information / requirements: You are participating in this workshop at your own risk, so please listen to instructions carefully. I will be on hand giving one on one attention while firing work. Please wear appropriate clothing, closed toe shoes, long sleeves, bring umbrella etc. You may want to bring a chair and a bottle of water. You will smell of smoke after firing works, bear this in mind if you are going somewhere else after. Five glazes will be provided on the day with examples to show you the effects. One glaze can be used per item. Please bring your bisque fired work and tin box with air tight lid eg small cake tin/biscuit tin. Feathers/hair if required for porcelain pieces. Provide your own lunch between 1-2pm or eat at cafe next door. Pieces can be no bigger than 3cm height, to be fitted in a round chamber 10cm diameter. Pieces with cracks should be avoided to fire as these may pop apart during or after firing, especially once placed in water, a thermal shock effect. One firing definitely, two probably, three possibly… spaces limited to 10 makers per day. No refund policy.
